Retrospective : Autumn 2025 projects

The year 2025 was marked by significant mobility works on the Saint-Urbain artery.

The year 2025 was marked by major mobility work on the Saint-Urbain artery. For more than six months, the development of a new bike path and a reserved bus lane transformed the landscape of our neighborhood.

Aware of the impacts of this construction site on our merchants, we deployed, thanks to the construction artery grant, a series of concrete measures to preserve the attractiveness of our sector and support our members. Here is a retrospective of our major interventions.

The accessibility of an artery also depends on its beauty. To counter the visual impact of the work:

  • Horticultural maintenance: We proceeded with brush clearing and maintenance of the sidewalk extensions surrounding the avenue's trees.
  • Cleanliness operations: A second full cleaning was carried out after the leaves fell this autumn to guarantee welcoming sidewalks.
  • Winter illuminations: In order to warm up the atmosphere during the coldest months, new winter illuminations were installed, creating a magical atmosphere for holiday shopping.

In particular, we had twinkling warm white lights installed on 40 trees between Saint-Laurent and Parc as well as six new giant baubles in front of Seth's mural at 270 Laurier Ouest. These acquisitions blend perfectly with our 58 light structures hanging from lampposts and the 30 illuminated natural fir trees on street corners.

Since physical passage was more complex, we brought Laurier Ouest directly to people's homes:

  • Digital Guide Optimization: The website destination.laurierouest.com has been enhanced with personalized blogs highlighting businesses directly affected by the work, as well as a new filtered map to help tourists quickly find the service or product they are looking for. As part of this initiative, we distributed more than 1,000 flyers at the Old Port of Montreal cruise kiosk to attract cruise passengers to the avenue.
  • Video promotional campaign: We produced a series of video shoots featuring our entrepreneurs. These human-centered clips allow viewers to discover the faces behind the neighborhood's flagship businesses.

To support our merchants in a factual manner, we invested in the purchase of pedestrian counters. This data is essential: it allows us to precisely measure foot traffic and adjust our future strategies to better defend the interests of the sector.

We thank the City of Montreal for its support of the SDC Laurier Ouest as part of the Construction Artery grant.
